Child Safety

Spintale is designed for families. Every story is created for children aged 2-10, and we take their safety seriously. Our approach to content safety uses multiple layers of protection, combining automated AI moderation with human oversight.

Every story goes through automated safety checks before your child sees it. Our moderation pipeline includes:

• Input screening - before a story is generated, we check all user inputs for inappropriate content, profanity, and prompt manipulation attempts
• Text moderation - after generation, the full story text is reviewed by AI for age-inappropriate themes, violence, scary content, and other concerns
• Image moderation - every illustration is scanned for inappropriate visual content before being shown

Stories that fail any moderation check are not shown. This automated system runs on every story - both private stories and those shared to our public Discover library.

If you see something in a story that concerns you, you can report it directly from the app. Look for the menu icon on any story in the Discover library or while reading a story, then tap "Report Story".

When you report a story, it is:

• Immediately hidden - from the Discover library so no other families can see it
• Reviewed by our team - within 24 hours to determine what action to take

You can select a reason for your report (such as inappropriate images, scary content, or language concerns) and optionally provide additional details. We take every report seriously.

After we review a report:

• If the content is found to be inappropriate, the story remains permanently hidden from the public library. The story owner is notified and can choose to regenerate the story.
• If the content is found to be appropriate after review, the story is restored to the Discover library.

Stories shared to the Discover library are anonymous - no usernames, profile pictures, or author information is displayed. Stories show only the title and story content. This eliminates social risks such as inappropriate contact between users.

All stories on Spintale are created with AI assistance. While our moderation systems are designed to catch inappropriate content, AI systems are not perfect. If you ever encounter content that concerns you, please use the in-app reporting feature or contact us directly.
